Family Respite Services was glad to be able to support 60 children to attend summer day camp this year at a variety of locations.  We are thankful to work in partnership with the YMCA, St. Clair College, the Town of LaSalle and the City of Windsor.

Click the above image to view more pictures from the ride.They rode through the County stopping at parks, ice cream stores, motorcycle shops, a winery, historical spots and more.  170 persons participated in the ride and the dinner as a part of the 4th Annual Robert's Ride.  This annual scavenger hunt and ride features routes for motorcycles, cars and a fun family route.  Family Respite Services benefited $16,500 from this event which is sponsored by the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. 

Two of the Our Time programs supported by Family Respite Services are held at City of Windsor Community Centres.  These centres are affected by the current labour dispute between CUPE and the City of Windosr.  Unfortunately, CUPE Local 543 representing the City of Windsor inside workers and CUPE Local 82 representing outside workers are both on strike.  This means that the Windsor Parks and Recreation leisure services are temporarily affected. 

The Our Time program features an opportunity for children with special needs to attend a community centre operated by the municipal parks and recreation department.  The children participate in a "day camp" style program on Saturday afternoons.  Parents pay a registration fee to the municipality.  FRS operates these programs in partnership with the Parks and Recreation departments in Windsor and Leamington.  The children have fun in a supervised setting while their parents have a period of respite.
